Jeti Pilots From Across The Ocean

Kaplice Air Race 2023

Last weekend was the fourth annual Kaplice Air Race. Hosted by Leteckomodelářskýklub Křemže, this indoor pylon race included around thirty pilots of all ages, and was split into two categories: aerobatic planes built from kits, and home built, scale models. There were so many Jeti pilots, they were able to capture this awesome photo! Head over to Jeti Model’s Facebook page to learn more about the race!

Congratulations to all the winners.

Nothing Short of Amazing

Rick Davey, Patty Wagstaff, and a Breathtaking Piece of Machinery

Rick Davey’s Aircraft

Recently I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Rick Davey through a series of emails and his history and experience left me amazed. Let me back-track a bit. An avid Jeti user, Mr. Davey became the proud new owner of some pretty stellar (if I may say so myself) Jeti sunglasses and reached out to show his appreciation – which is absolutely reciprocated. In discussion, he sent over a photo of the Carf 3.2m Extra 330LX pictured above and I just knew it had to have a story. As I suspected it did, and such a great story it was.

Mr. Davey is a retired commercial pilot that now flies giant scale RC aircraft (on Jeti, in case you were wondering). In addition to flying massive (10’+ wingspan/ 60+ lbs) aircraft he also teaches others to fly. One subject that he covers in class is aerobatics, which he began learning from none other than the astonishing aerobatic pilot Patty Wagstaff. His Carf Extra 330LX is detailed to represent her 1990’s “Blackbird” aircraft.

“It [the airplane] belonged to Patty Wagstaff and she gave me my first private aerobatic training many years ago when she was just getting started… I loved the livery and honoring such a wonderful woman, by flying her ride and relating who she is to anyone interested.”

If you don’t know who Patty Wagstaff, she is a three time US National Aerobatic Champion, a six time member of the US Aerobatic Team, has won Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals in International Aerobatic Competition and is an inductee to the National Aviation Hall of Fame. She is nothing short of amazing, and a great role model for women interested in flight. (https://pattywagstaff.com/)

We, at Jeti USA, want to thank Mr. Davey for sharing such an amazing piece of history with us and of course for trusting Jeti with five giant scale airplanes! Thank you!

You Have A Challenging Project, We Have A Comprehensive Solution!!!

Jeti Central Box, Elite EX5/SE6/SE4 Channel Expanders w/Telemetry

Get yours here!

The Dual Input Servo Channel Expander EX5 is an intelligent bus manager compatible with several radio control systems. The device converts serial bus signal from up to two receivers to either standard PWM servo outputs, or configurable bus outputs. It offers up to five configurable and high-power servo ports with optional period and fail-safe setting.

The EX5 is a perfect choice for models with complex wing or tail mechanics where multiple servos may be connected to a primary receiver/receivers using just a single cable. In addition, if you are running out of receiver channels simply connect additional SE2/SE4/SE6 to the EX5 serial line/s and freely assign any channels.

The EX5 offers flight stabilization (Optional) using the integrated MEMS gyroscope/accelerometer. Up to three configurable flight modes can be used, each with different stabilization gains and settings. In connection with other devices from our production, such as SE4 or SE6, you can create a complex installation with just a few signal/power cables.

– Firmware updates via USB interface.

Advance Model Installation
Attach the required servos or additional bus devices (SE2/SE4/SE6) to the EX5 (ports 1-5). Connect up to two receivers through their bus outputs. In case of a single receiver, always connect primary RX to the RX1 port of the EX5. Turn on the transmitter and apply the appropriate power source to the EX5. The status LED starts blinking as soon as the EX5 detects signal on the serial line. Please note that both receivers have to use the same data protocol (S.Bus, EX Bus, etc., ).

Active Freewheeling (Active Motor Breaking)
Brand new feature of the speed controller that reduces heat generated by the ESC during partial load operation. This mode is useful for 3D extreme and F3A precision aerobatic pilots who want not only fast acceleration, but also rapid deceleration. The motor follows throttle stick input in both ways and the pilot feels more completely in control.

Current Limiter (Active Power Monitoring)
The current limiter is a part of safety controller features. It does not stop the motor but rather continuously monitors the immediate current consumption and adjusts the motor power. You can enable this feature, specify the maximum allowed current and the ESC will reduce the motor power immediately as soon as the current threshold is exceeded. After the current returns back to the safe level, the motor power is restored.

Propeller Positioning (Hall Effect Magnetic Sensor)
The positioning feature allows moving the motor/propeller to the exact position required for safe landing, or which is just comfortable for further flying. With just a few external components (Hall-sensor and a small magnet) you can enable this feature and prevent the risk of damaging your propeller during landing or (Scale Sailplane) motor pod/folding prop retraction. The magnet needs to be properly fixed to the rotating part (either motor or the propeller), and the Hall-sensor has to be located in the fuselage, so that the magnet matches the Hall-sensor at the target propeller position. After enabling the positioning feature in the menu, set also the positioning PWM, so that the motor spins slowly but smoothly.

We Are Done, Scale Full Composite Windex 1200C is Alive & Well!!!

The Windex 1200C is a powered sailplane for amateurs construction build by WINDEXAIR AB. Windex 1200c is primarily a high-performance sailplane, but its unique concept with a low-drag fin-mounted engine installation and a variable-pitch propeller turns it also into an efficient touring aircraft with a cruising speed of 210km/h (130 mph). In addition to this the airframe of Windex 1200C is designed for aerobatic routine. The model is very well reproduced and belongs into the super scale class, with its outstanding cockpit interior, beautiful gel-coated finish and excellent flying characteristics. Flying is just amazing due to the acceptable wing loading, it thermals well without any bad behavior and smooth and predictable handling.

With its fiberglass fuselage and carbon fiber reinforced, hollow molded wings the WinDex can handle full day of soaring as well as complete aerobatic routine. The careful use of composites creates a good light structure that will hold its shape for a long time.
